Jeff McKinney: Helicopter Flying Instructor
I began my helicopter training in March of 2005 with Silver State Helicopters. I came to aviation after fourteen years experience in the insurance industry and three years as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. All in all I have nearly two decades of working with people in all sorts of situations and from all sorts of backgrounds. My instructing career began with Silver State as an Advanced Ground Instructor in January of 2007. I have given more than 1200 hours of one on one ground and class instruction in the last four years. In addition, I have been an enthusiastic CFI since January of 2008 and achieved my instrument rating and instrument instructor rating in March of 2009. I have given both ground and flight instruction to students working on Private, Commercial, Instrument and CFI certificates and ratings. I have soloed sixteen students and signed off nine students for certificates with a 100% pass rate. I believe the key to learning in the cockpit is to expand the student’s perceptual field by creating a relaxed, fun and safe environment. I always look forward to meeting my next student.
